Cagoules et Décalcomanies - Hoods and Decals - is the meeting of rebellion, hidden beneath hoods, and childhood, to play. Things that fade away; a child's discovery of discord. The name of the band is reminiscent of the trips we've taken together, especially to Mexico, as well as the long-standing friendships it represents.

The music of « Cagoules et Décalcomanies » is written by Fanny Menegoz and Nicolas Stephan. We wanted to create music that was both accessible and profound, influenced by our many musical backgrounds, from jazz to improvised music to Maloya from Reunion Island. We wanted to sing, to work with our voices in addition to our instruments, to get closer to the intimate, to the universal.
We continue to search, explore, and transform the concert into an experience to be lived. A meeting point between us and the audience.

Our songs are designed for those who want to detect subtle references, messages, and innuendo, as well as those who listen instinctively and enjoy surprises. We use the codes of songwriting to take listeners where they might not otherwise go, and make them feel comfortable there.
One of our fundamental principles is groove. Dance is never far away either. Driven by a luxurious rhythm that is as raw as it is deep, the band always seeks to move to the beat, to make the body move, to create oscillation where it seemed to have disappeared.

A musical experiment of raw freedom
Cagoules et Décalcomanies explores music as liberation through writing, breath, voice, friction and percussion. Their sound is acoustic and unadorned, carrying the energy of rebellion and the playfulness of childhood.
Formed out of long-standing friendships and a shared vision of sound, the group plays as one. The voices of flutist Fanny Ménégoz and saxophonist Nicolas Stephan intertwine with their instruments, while Théo Girard’s double bass and Rafaël Koerner’s drums create a continuous pulse. Together they build an ensemble sound that is both fragile and powerful, intimate and uncompromising.
The full album by Cagoules et Décalcomanies was released on October 17, 2025 on the Neuklang label.

Flutist, composer, and almost a singer.
A founding member of Cie Haoma, she is the driving force and songwriter behind her 4-piece band Nobi (‘Vertes Brumes’ - 2023 - Label Onze Heures Onze). She created a spin-off of this group with singer Ann O'aro, Le Sourire de la Wouivre. She co-directs the duo Dune with Rafaël Koerner (‘Voyage au creux d'un arbre’ - 2021 - Label Neuklang) and in autumn 2024 they will create a new repertoire with saxophonist Sakina Abou, ‘Ailefroide et l'Ivresse’.
The ambiguity of harmony, the elasticity of time, and the quest for a collective musical organization combining freedom and solidarity are her favourite themes in her musical research.
